Power System Design
Our experience in the simulation and optimization of renewable power systems runs deep. In fact, we developed HOMER, one of the most widespread micropower design models in the world. But we also have experience with Hybrid2, a more detailed simulation program, and RETScreen, a screening model.

We can design grid-connected and off-grid power systems involving any combination of wind turbines, solar PV, run-of-river hydro, biomass gasification, diesel generators. microturbines, fuel cells, battery storage, and hydrogen storage. Please contact us for assistance in designing:
- A power system for an off-grid house, telecom site, or other remote load
- A grid-connected distributed generation (DG) system
- An industrial cogeneration or combined heat and power (CHP) system
- An isolated village power system
Sometimes the most difficult part of renewable power system modeling is finding the necessary data. We have extensive experience in finding and developing data on electric load, thermal load, solar, wind, and hydro resources, as well as cost and performance data for the various system components. We have also developed several custom software tools to help generate synthetic load, wind speed, and stream flow data. Measured load or renewable resource data sets are sometimes difficult to work with because they may use different time steps or cover a different time period, and often contain gaps or erroneous values. We can address each of these issues and convert such data sets into a useable form.
If you are doing your own modeling and having trouble with a specific file or would like a second opinion, we can do a detailed review of the file to look for possible problems and to suggest improvements. We treat all customer data confidentially.
